Choosing a graduate education is a big decision that can generate a lot of questions. Take some time to browse the FAQs to help you determine if this program is the right fit for you. Do I need to take the GRE, GMAT, or other standardized tests?
Answer: No, we do not require the GMAT or GRE. Our program is tailored for experienced mid-career professionals for whom we feel a standardized test is not an appropriate measure of ability. If you have previously completed either of these exams, you are welcome to include them with your application.

When can I begin the program?
Answer: There are three start dates to choose from each year – Fall, Spring or Summer.

How much time will my studies take?
Answer: Most students spend about 20 to 25 hours per week on MHA-related work.

When I graduate, how will my diploma read?
Answer: Your diploma will read “Master of Health Administration.“Although the program is conducted entirely online, your diploma will not include the word “online.”

How much does the program cost?
Answer: Total cost is $25,338 for Ohio residents and $26,022 for non-residents, including books and fees. Learn about financial aid here.

Does Ohio University accept financial aid?
Answer:Yes. To be considered eligible to receive financial assistance, you must file the current year FAFSA atwww.fafsa.ed.gov to begin the financial aid process. How do I stay in contact with my classmates and faculty during the program?
Answer: In the Ohio University MHA program, you are never alone! Through discussion forums, e-mail, and online chats, you will be engaged in exciting collaborative learning in your courses. Faculty members maintain regular contact and you may contact your faculty members online, during video office hours, and by e-mail. You will also be able to collaborate with your peer students via conferencing software.

What computer skills do I need?
Answer: We purposely chose a very user-friendly learning platform for the online MHA. As long as you feel comfortable navigating the Internet, using e-mail, and working in Microsoft Office, you should feel at ease participating in this program.

I am interested in taking some of the courses, but I do not want a full master’s degree. Could I enroll in a few of the courses without being admitted?
Answer: No, you must enroll in the program to take any of the online MHA classes. The MHA online program is a carefully planned curriculum built to complement and enhance the backgrounds of our select learning community of students.

I have taken some graduate courses. Can I transfer those credits to this program?
Answer: Transfer credits are not accepted because of the special orientation of the Ohio University MHA online program. Program courses are carefully interlinked. They depend on students having a higher level and very current background than we could presume from courses taken elsewhere. We want to assure every student success and assure that each student is prepared to contribute when working in groups.

How quickly can I complete this online MHA program?
Answer: It is possible to complete the program in as few as two years.

Are there course prerequisites for admission?
Answer: If you are accepted into the program, we will evaluate your transcript for previous education in statistics and financial accounting. If you need one or both, fulfilling them need not add to your program length. Ohio University offers short courses you can complete in the time between being accepted and starting your first course in the MHA program. Having prerequisites allows us to adjust to the varied backgrounds of our students. We do not want you to spend your time in graduate school on topics that displace more important higher level learning or extend the length of your graduate program.

How many credits and courses do I take each term?
Answer: Each 15-week semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer) consists of two 7-week terms, called term A and term B. There is a one-week break between terms A and B in the Fall and Spring semester. Students take two 3-credit classes each semester: the first in term A and the second in term B.

Are campus visits required?
Answer: No. However, we hope that students will choose to attend the graduation ceremony and enjoy celebrating with faculty and fellow students once they’ve completed the program. In addition, students are always welcome to visit the Ohio University campus in beautiful southeastern Ohio and to take advantage of services and programs offered when they are in the area.

What kind of people am I going to be working with?
Answer: Your fellow students will be experienced, working professionals with at least two years of experience in the U.S. health field.

Why does Ohio University require at least two years of experience for admission to the MHA?
Answer: The Ohio University MHA is set at a higher level for professionals who already have an intimate knowledge of the US health care system. Coursework depends on students sharing and collaborating from positions of insight as they consider the difficult problems facing health care. The Ohio University MHA program is designed to help experienced health care professionals enhance their careers. The high-level curriculum is not designed for the career changer or those transitioning into the health care field for the first time.

What are the computer requirements for the MHA online program?
Answer: Before you start the MHA online program, you will want to make sure that you have configured your computer to work for an online program. Ohio University’s MHA online program uses a learning management system called Blackboard that requires your web browser to conform to certain standards, which we will outline for you and with which our technical support service will help you. We provide 24/7 technical assistance so that when you want to study you will not be delayed by a technical glitch.

What transcripts are required for admission?
Answer: The Admissions Committee needs to see a transcript from every college or university you have attended. Official transcripts are required only for colleges or universities from which you earned a degree from.
