Dr. Deb McAvoy

Dr. Deb McAvoy is the department chair and an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, joining in fall 2007. She received her Ph.D. from Wayne State University after working as a civil engineering consultant for 11 years. Dr. McAvoy worked as the lead research engineer for the Wayne State University Transportation Research Group for three years while working toward her doctorate. She completed her master’s in transportation engineering from Wayne State University and her bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Detroit. Dr. McAvoy is a registered professional engineer in Michigan and Ohio. She’s also certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer through the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
