When I graduate, what will my diploma read?
Your diploma will read “Master of Accountancy.” Your diploma will not say the word “online.”

How long is the Online Master of Accounting program?
For students who enter the Online MAcc program with a bachelor’s in accounting, the program is comprised of 10 courses (30 total semester credit hours) and takes 5 semesters to complete.

For students who enter the online MAcc program without a bachelor’s in accounting, but an undergraduate degree in a business-related field, the program is comprised of 14 courses (42 total semester credit hours) and takes 7 semesters to complete.

For students who enter the online MAcc program without a bachelor’s in accounting or an undergraduate degree in a business-related field, the program is comprised of 15 courses (45 total semester credit hours) and takes 7.5 semesters to complete.

Does the Ohio University online Master of Accounting require the GRE or GMAT?
Ohio University’s Online MAcc does not require the GRE or GMAT for admission.

Are there campus visit requirements?
All MAcc candidates are required to attend one on-campus, weekend-long (Friday afternoon-Sunday) Professional Development Workshop. Students also have the option to participate in two more workshops throughout the program, but those are not required.

What type of student support can I expect during the program?
At Ohio University, each student is assigned a personal Student Support Advisor who will be with you throughout your time in the program. To discuss the program’s structure and support in greater detail, contact your Enrollment Advisor.

Are there any prerequisite courses needed if my degree isn’t in accounting?
The curriculum for students who enter the online MAcc program without a bachelor’s in accounting (Business Path or Non-Business Path) includes four foundational accounting courses before beginning the core curriculum. Students without an undergraduate business degree also take four (4) general business courses.

How will I communicate with my professors?
Your professors will participate in the class discussion areas with you. Also, they will provide virtual office hours if you need individual attention.

What can I expect the coursework to be like?
You should expect that course work will be application-based. You will learn based on real-world scenarios and expect to apply them both in and outside of the classroom environment.

What is the Business Analytics Certificate and why is it included with my Master of Accountancy?
The Business Analytics Certificate is an integrated part of the MAcc curriculum for those in the Accounting or Business path. The data analytics courses will help you to interpret and communicate the results of data analysis and help you to develop strategies that an organization could use to improve its competitive advantage.

If I am on the non-business path, can I also get the Business Analytics Certificate?
You have the option to pursue the Business Analytics Certificate following your graduation from the MAcc program as a standalone option. Completing the Business Analytics Certificate may mean taking as few as two additional courses beyond your Master of Accountancy.

What if I don’t want the Business Analytics Certificate as part of my Master of Accountancy? Can I take the core curriculum and be done sooner?
No, data analytics is increasingly important in the field of accountancy and provides a competitive advantage from an employment perspective. The Business Analytics certificate is integrated into the MAcc curriculum.

Can I switch out the Business Analytics Certificate for another certificate as part of my Master of Accountancy?
No, you must take the data analytics courses as per the MAcc curriculum; however, if you are interested in pursuing additional graduate business certificates post-graduation you are more than welcome. In addition, as an Ohio University alumnus, you may be eligible for a tuition scholarship valid towards graduate business certificates.
